Today was a day of many penises. I started this day by trying to go on a tour of the old harbor by boat, but after sitting outside at the dock for an hour, I concluded they must be closed for the season, even though there was no indication that they close seasonally.
So I decided to spend the time leading up to my departure doing something you can only do in Iceland: visiting the Icelandic Phallological Museum. They have the worlds largest collection of penises, over 215 specimens. The even have 3 promised human specimens when their current owners are no longer using them.
Overall my time in Iceland was fun, though expensive. Their currency is *just* out of parity enough that it's hard to remember how much you're spending. 100 Kronos are equal to about 75 cents... which means that everything you see costs thousands of Kronos, and it's difficult to have an intuitive sense for how much anything actually costs. I ate a meal that wound up being around $80, and I didn't realize it until I was waiting for my food to come and I did the math...
I would definitely do the Iceland layover again, and I highly recommend using AirBnb when staying here to save on lodging costs. Next time I come I think I'll bring a camera and try to go capture some of the natural beauty of the countryside, rather than paying for so many tourist options, and save a little money in the process.
