Today was a really enjoyable day. I got to start by having a real English Breakfast:
And then I touched a really old rock
This was actually at the planetarium, which was full of school kids when I first arrived, so I left, intending to come back later... and then forgot. Oops.
But I did get to see the Greenwich observatory!
Home of the Prime Meridian
I also saw a "Steampunk'd" exhibit, where they had a bunch of made up things on display... it was sort of neat to look at, but felt a bit weird being presented in an official capacity...
Then I went over to the Maritime Museum, which had a huge ship in a bottle outside
They also had a giant mapof the world
Where I was able to recreate my walk across Spain in a much simpler effort
Then I got to go see the Cutty Sark
It is one of the fastest commercial sailing ships ever built, and is now turned into a museum that you could walk under, inside, and on top of
I had booked a ticket to "hike the O2" which is a stadium they have here, but given the shape my ankles are in, I decided it was probably best to avoid it. It would be terrible to hike all the way across Spain just to injure myself climbing up a stadium.
So instead I decided to follow Christal's advice and catch a show in London. The one that caught my attention most was the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical, so that's what I went to see. I don't have any pictures, because they didn't allow photography, but the show was fantastic, and the Oompa Loompa's were brilliantly done. The costumes were done up to look like each actor was two Oompa Loompas, one holding the other on their shoulders... the cut of the costume *really* looked like they were separate, they had some excellent padding, and the actors really sold the gimmick, it was great.
Tomorrow I fly to Iceland!
